Scholars Collective

Learn Today. Lead Tomorrow. Excel for Life.

Welcome to

Scholars Collective

Scholars Collective was founded with a simple belief: every student deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. While traditional education provides a foundation, many students benefit from additional support, guidance, and encouragement to truly thrive. Our goal is to help bridge those gaps by creating a learning environment where students feel motivated, challenged, and inspired.

At Scholars Collective, we focus on developing strong learning habits, critical thinking skills, and confident communication. Our programs are designed to help students deepen their understanding, strengthen their abilities, and build a genuine love for learning. We believe education should empower students not only to succeed academically but also to approach the future with confidence, curiosity, and ambition.

By supporting both academic growth and personal development, we aim to ensure that every student has the skills and opportunities to pursue any path they choose.

Public Speaking Pathway

In-Person classes only

Public Speaking (Grades 5–8)

Our Public Speaking program for Grades 5–8 helps students build confidence, express their ideas clearly, and enjoy speaking in front of others. Through fun activities, interactive exercises, and supportive coaching, students learn how to organize their thoughts, use strong voice and body language, and deliver engaging presentations. This class encourages creativity, critical thinking, and the courage to speak up skills that help students succeed in school and beyond.

Public Speaking (Grades 7–9)

Designed for middle school students ready to strengthen their communication skills, this Public Speaking class helps students become confident, persuasive speakers. Participants learn how to structure speeches, communicate ideas effectively, think on their feet, and connect with an audience. With guided practice and constructive feedback, students develop leadership, presentation skills, and the confidence to speak with clarity in academic and real-world settings.

Math Mastery Pathway - Grade SK to 8

In- Person classes only

At Scholars Collective, our Math program helps students build strong skills, gain confidence, and overcome learning gaps. Our levels are designed so that a child may not always be in the same level as their grade, but the goal is to ensure they master the concepts needed to succeed in their current grade and go beyond. We focus on clearing any “math blocks” early, preparing students for high school and future opportunities. Math is a fundamental subject that opens doors to university courses and many career paths.

All students receive a report card at the end of the year, so parents can clearly see their child’s progress and growth. Our expert teachers make lessons engaging, approachable, and rewarding, showing students that math can be both fun and empowering.

About us

Jeyana is an experienced mathematics educator with over 15 years of teaching experience and a deep commitment to helping students build strong academic foundations and confidence in their learning.

She earned her Honours Bachelor of Science (HBSc) from the University of Toronto, and completed her Bachelor of Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Jeyana knew from a young age that she wanted to become an educator and pursued this path through a concurrent education program during her university studies.

Jeyana has been teaching within the public school system for over 13 years, gaining extensive experience supporting students across a range of learning needs and abilities. Prior to joining the school board, she also taught within the private school sector, which allowed her to work in more individualized learning environments and develop a strong appreciation for personalized instruction.

Throughout her career, Jeyana has observed that many students struggle in mathematics not because they lack ability, but because gaps in foundational knowledge make new concepts increasingly difficult to grasp. Without the opportunity to rebuild these foundations, students often lose confidence and begin to feel that mathematics simply “isn’t for them.”

Motivated by a desire to change that experience, Jeyana co-founded Scholars Collective. The goal was to create a structured and supportive learning environment where students can strengthen their core skills, develop strong problem-solving abilities, and grow into confident, independent learners.

Her teaching philosophy is built on three core principles:

Strong Foundations – Ensuring students develop a deep understanding of fundamental mathematical concepts.
Structured Progression – Guiding students through a clear pathway of skill development and mastery.
Confidence & Independence – Helping students become resilient learners who believe in their abilities.

Through the Scholars Collective Math Mastery Pathway, Jeyana has designed a structured program that supports students from early numeracy through advanced mathematical thinking. By combining carefully designed lessons, consistent practice, and meaningful feedback, she works to ensure that every student develops both the skills and confidence needed for long-term academic success.

Hi, I’m Melissa, co-founder of Scholars Collective and a parent of three children in the school system. Like many parents, I see firsthand the challenges students face today and how important it is for them to build strong academic foundations and confidence in their abilities.

My passion for supporting students is deeply personal. Growing up, I struggled with math and often felt stuck and discouraged. It was the patience and dedication of a few teachers who took the time to work with me that helped me overcome those challenges and build the confidence I needed to succeed. That experience stayed with me and shaped how I view education and support for young learners.

Today, many teachers face resource and time constraints that make it difficult to provide that same extra support to students who need it most. At Scholars Collective, our goal is to help bridge that gap. We provide affordable academic support in key subjects like math and English so that every student has the opportunity to strengthen their understanding and reach their full potential.

I hold a degree in Social Work and have a professional background in operations and project management, along with experience as a business owner in the logistics sector. These experiences have strengthened my leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills, all of which I bring to Scholars Collective.

Working with youth has always been important to me. I have spent over 15 years volunteering and working with young people, currently coaching with the Toronto Titans Field Hockey Club and serving as Chair of the Parent Council at my children’s school.

Scholars Collective was created with one clear mission: to support students, empower families, and ensure that no child is left behind in the fundamentals that shape their academic future.
